The White Horse, Newburgh Street, Soho, London

It was quite empty when I visited this week, but I have had a few raucous nights here in the past. Once when England played Italy in a World Cup match and we watched the inevitable defeat with a vibrant crowd of local office workers. Another time, a guitarist playing on a Friday night and the welcoming pub atmosphere almost made me miss my last train home.

Today it was quiet, but the staff were still as welcoming, and the glorious pint of Guinness pictured cost me £8.05.
